Official U.S. passport photo rules (quick view)
- Size: 2 × 2 inches (51 × 51 mm), square
- Head height: 25–35 mm (1–1⅜ in) from chin to crown
- Eyes: open, looking at the camera; eye line about 28–35 mm from the bottom of the photo
- Background: white or off-white — no shadows, texture, objects or lines
- Expression: neutral, both eyes open
- Glasses: not allowed (since 1 Nov 2016), except medical exemption
- Hats: not allowed (religious/medical exceptions only)
- Taken within the last 6 months; no filters or digital retouching
